Normal Early Childhood Development

The first six years of your child's life is a very significant period as this is the time of intensive growth, both physically and mentally. For parents, watching your baby change from a helpless, wriggling newborn into a confident toddler and subsequently a preschooler with his own distinctive personality can be a delightful journey in itself.

Here we mark the normal development that your child will achieve in the early childhood of the first six years. This is just a general guide. Each child grows and develops at his own pace, and it does no one any good to compare one child to another. However, it does help to know what your child is capable of at each stage of the development so that you can mark his milestone every step of the way.

Genetic influences also play a part in determining at what age your child masters certain developmental milestones. Also, a healthy child who is given the right food and plenty of love and attention will be able to learn the skills he needs to enjoy a good quality of life.
