Animal Matching Game and I Spy Games

The two games described below would help to foster closer relationship between parents and the toddlers, in addition to being educational to the young ones.

Animal Matching Game

This is a grouping game for parents and child to play.

Materials
1. Cut out animal pictures from magazines and old picture books.
2. Get your child to group the animals that belong to the same environment together, for example: farm animals versus jungle animals.
3. Write out fact cards for each group. For example, farm animals are animals raised in the farm by people for food or work in the farm. Jungle animals live freely in their own natural habitats.

Variations
pets versus wild animals, 2-legged animals versus 4-legged animals, animals that live on land versus those that live in water, animals that lay eggs versus animals that nurse that young.

I Spy Game

This is an activity your child will definitely love.

Say to your child, "I can see something in blue", "I can see something green", "I can see something that runs", "I can see something rectangular in shape", "I can see something that chirps" and so on. Then get your child to name what he thinks you are describing.

Reverse the roles and you can be the one guessing what your child is describing.

This game can be played anywhere and anytime.
