Hugssss (language skills,
0-3 months)
* The language of a young baby is cooing,
he responds to things that catch his interest with a coo.
* Play cooing game with your baby! Hold a red, black or white (RBW)
colored object in front of his eyes. When he responds with a coo,
answer him with a coo too and hug him. You will soon find out what he
likes and what pleases him.
* When your baby learns that his sounds please another person, he will
make more sounds and this encourage early language development.
Noises (language skills, 0-3 months)
* Imitate the noises your baby makes.
This will establish wonderful communication between you and your baby.
* Try some of these: kissing sounds, tongue clicking, “ch ch” sound,
“coo coo” sound, blowing and sucking in air.
* You can also stick your index finger in your mouth and popping it out
to make noise.
Bedtime talk (language skills, 0-3 months)
* The more you talk to your baby, the
sooner he will babble and try to talk.
* Use your soothing voice and loving words during bedtime, this can
help him to fall asleep more easily.
* Say “Good night, sweet baby” or “Rest, rest and sleep tight”
* Hold your baby close to you and stroke his face or head as you talk
to him.
* As you put him in her cot bed, continue to say comforting words as
you caress him.
