* Hold your baby close to you and say his name in a soft but high-pitched voice, for example, “Ben, Ben, I love you”.
* Next, say the same words in a soft but low-pitched voice now.
* Alternate between using high and low voices several times.

Listen (hearing, 0-3 months)

* Sit your baby outside near a tree where he can see the leaves move.
* Tie lightweight items that can make sounds to the branches so that he can hear the sounds they make when the wind blows.
* Chimes, rattles and plastic bags make lovely when they move in a breeze.
* Talk to your baby about the sounds he hears. Use words like “soft”, “high”, “tinkling” etc.

Twinkle, twinkle (hearing, 0-3 months)

* Your baby is now able to single out different sound patterns. Talk to your baby in different voices will help him in the process.
* Make your voice animated, the more you are able to do it, the more your baby will pay attention to you.
* Pick a short nursery rhyme such as “Twinkle twinkle little star”, sing or say the words in many different ways – low, high, softly, whispering, and in a happy voice to your baby.

Find me (hearing, 0-3 months)

* This game is good for coordinating sound and sight.
* While your bay is in his cot bed, go to another part of the room and call his name.
* Go back to where he is and say his name as you stroke his head.
* Again, go to another part of the room and say his name.
* Then return to him and repeat his name and stroke his head.
* As you continue to call him from different parts of the room, he will move his eyes in search of the sound. By returning to him each time, you ensure that he hears the sound close by as well as those far away.
